Who run the world? Ashley and Janelle, that’s who. These ladies have succeeded where most others fail. They relocate together, knowing few people and having never lived together themselves. They conquer new jobs, meet new friends and most importantly, they solidify what they had hoped would be true. That they were in it for the long haul. When they aren’t climbing rocks or cheering on the Thorns in their free time, they’re helping people all. day. long. These two both chose fields in which they support and care for others, so when I heard they wanted to buy their first home together, I was honored to be a part of it.
Being a first-time home buyer is stressful. Being a first-time homebuyer is Portland is even more so. After having our hearts torn out by a cutie-patootie bungalow with 10 offers, these ladies harnessed their inner badassery and got back on the hunt.
In no time, we were back in love, feelin’ a bohemian 3 bedroom with an ADU in Powellhurst. From the moment they set foot on the property, they lit up. We hovered over the open house, wandering the vast outdoor spaces like lions stalking prey. Ever the pragmatic souls, they came ready to play ball. The ladies crunched their numbers, having to take cosmetic upgrades and a new roof into account. There were several times where it felt overwhelming and frustrating during negotiations. There were also nights where we ate Pok Pok or cried with laughter in phone meetings. All in all, they remained patient and trusted the process. They made it work within the budget, had a crazy awesome inspection and are now currently living inside of Pinterest boards, naturally.
It wasn’t a walk in the park, but you know what? Now they can literally walk in their own park. I adore these ladies and I can’t wait to see what they do with this house!
