Blog Stories Beware the Lemon!

Beware the Lemon!

By Living Room Realty, February 27, 2018

Julia was looking for that cute little house to call her own. We found it in Roseway Heights. So cute on a large lot. It looked perfect. She put in an aggressive offer and beat out 3 other offers to win the day. Everything looked great with the house marketed as ‘newer upgrades including electrical, furnace and water heater.’ She was stoked—until the home inspection. The home inspector’s issues with the house just kept going on and on and on. It turned out all of the upgrades had not been done by a professional. The siding had many issues with poor installation. Part of the roof wasn’t attached to the house. The water heater and furnace were not installed correctly, as in, not level. Condensation was running back into both units. Electrical system has active knob and tube buried in old insulation. The foundation was not properly supported which caused the poor framing in the attic to fail. And it went on. This cute little charmer was a tear down! The perfect lemon. Looks great on the outside. Total nightmare once you look close. Julia didn’t walk from the transaction, she ran!
The positive of the story is that the sale fail opened the door to some family money Julia did not know about. We were able to find her the perfect cutie right off of Mississippi shopping district. Love!
