Simple Ways to Get Your Home “Sell” Ready

By Tosha Reinmiller, May 16, 2018

Preparing to sell your home doesn’t have to be overwhelming, or cost an arm and a leg. The magic is in the details! Here’s a few easy ways for you to start the process.

1. Exterior Approachability – Whether we want to admit it or not, when it comes to Real Estate, people tend to judge a book by it’s cover. In order to get your home to it’s best viewing potential, consider focusing on landscaping and gardening your outdoor areas (if you have the space). Even just a few thoughtfully placed flower blooms will give that extra color pop! Or add a new coat of paint to get looking fresh.

2. Windows – Just by washing & cleaning the windows in your home, you’ll be surprised to find how much extra light will be allowed in. You don’t even have to buy window cleaner, simply combine 1 parts apple cider vinegar and 3 parts water for an inexpensive DIY alternative.

3. Ambiance and Lighting – What vibe does your home give off? Is it light, airy and flowing? Or can it feel dark and cave like at times? Natural lighting as well as color choice, can play a HUGE factor in how potential buyers will feel when viewing your home. For example, adding hues of green and grey can make a room feel more spacious and calm, while warm colors like red and orange add a more cozy and intimate feel to your space.

4. De-Clutter – Cleaning off counter tops, maximizing space in closets (a closet can never be too big) and straightening up cabinets are just a few of the ways to instantly transform your interior space. Remove personal items to de-personalize the house. Replace shower curtains and bath rugs with something fresh.

5. Personal Touches – A little goes a long way. Place a throw blanket in the living room or put some candles on the dining room table. Even adding small indoor plants or a fresh bouquet of flowers to a room, instantly livens up a space.
