Past Clients Reviews:

Sold the family home and bought a new house with Gavin:

As empty nesters in our 60s we wanted to move from Northwest Portland to Southeast to be closer to our grandchildren. We selected Gavin Shettler because he found a home for one of our daughters. Gavin was great, both in helping us find a home that met our needs and selling our house. We received  multiple offers within a week on our house that exceeded the asking price. The paperwork on both ends turned out to be a breeze. Most importantly Gavin listened to us and helped find a home that met our needs. Downsizing is not always easy. We always felt that Gavin was watching out for out interests and was very responsive. An added feature to working with Gavin is that he has a number of contacts with contractors that do quality work in a timely manner for a fair price. While this has been our only move in the last 20 years, we would highly recommend Gavin Shettler to anyone looking for a real estate agent.

Bought a home in Woodlawn with Gavin’s help:

Gavin came to us as a recommendation from a close friend. My partner and I were on the fence about purchasing a new property. He immediately saw the value of the home we were looking at and helped us negotiate a fair price. He also brought a wealth of knowledge in regards to local knowledge and  process. We closed in less than 30 days.

We bought a great house in Lents:

Gavin was very easy to work with. He understood what we were looking for in a house and what we could reasonably afford, which is essential in a realtor. It’s so helpful when someone gets your sensibility. He offered helpful guidance with regards to neighborhoods and what specific areas had to  offer. He also provided perspective on future city planning and smart things to consider investment-wise. The whole home-buying process is a bit daunting (especially in this market!), but he made it both easier to understand and less intimidating. It was assuring to have him say that we could definitely find a house that we loved in Portland that we could – and we did! Gavin has also made it clear that we can continue to use him as a resource for house-related questions and concerns. Overall, we were very happy to have Gavin on our side during the process and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell a house.

Gavin helped us again!

My husband and I purchased our first home in 2011 with the help of Gavin.  He was very professional and made the entire process comfortable.  We decided to sell that home at the beginning of 2014 located in Oregon City and move closer into Portland.  Gavin was the first call we made, he helped us sell our house then purchase our new condo without having to be temporary placed during the transition.  If you need someone to really care, be consistent, and flat out Help You!  Gavin is the person for the job.  I wouldn’t consider anyone else and will likely make that phone call again in a couple years because we clearly enjoy a change of scenery.

Our first home:

We were very lucky to find Gavin when searching for houses. Gavin is honest and hardworking, who will find what you are looking for without the high pressure that you mostly see elsewhere. He is friendly and knowledgeable, and an overall nice guy. We would definitely work with Gavin again.

Bought a Westside condo for retirement:

We found Gavin by random selection from a few Web searches. It turned out to be a crucial lucky break for us. We are in Detroit and wanted to purchase a Condo in the Portland area. Gavin knows the metro area so well and for Portland proper he is an expert. Like a good Jazz player Gavin was able to continually adjust as our expectations evolved. We found we couldn’t afford the Pearl district for instance so he steered us toward the division area and areas just outside Portland city limits. We had many competing ‘requirements’ which he patiently tried to accommodate. Gavin puts high priority on communication. He consistently and completely answered our questions within a day or two. When the negotiations for our place spanned his birthday weekend where he was going out of town he kept the process moving remotely. One last point is that he works for you. He tries hard to understand what you want in a home. He then works to find that place for the price you told him. We NEVER felt pressured to buy up or to rush into a sale. Gavin is a gift.

Bought a Mid-Century Modern in the West Hills:

Gavin helped us buy a house this fall.  We’ve bought and renovated homes before, but Gavin’s advice was very helpful in navigating what became a lengthy and somewhat complicated purchase.  He was also clear when we discussed areas outside of his realm of expertise.  As such, we came to really trust when he had comments about a particular issue.  We would definitely work with him again.

Bought a Single Family home in Montavilla, Portland, OR:

Gavin was a pleasure to work with in a process that can be potentially frustrating. He was knowledgeable, professional and always friendly. In the end, Gavin assisted me in finding the right house for myself and I would recommend him to friends and family in the future. Thanks Gavin!

Bought a home in Portland:

The most important aspect for me in working with Gavin was that I could trust him. Having an agent you really trust is working out the best deal for YOU, not for his wallet, business etc, made all the difference. He found a home that really fit our aesthetic while also not breaking our budget or pushing us toward something that we really couldn’t afford. He was fun, lighthearted as well as knowledgeable and tactful in all of his dealings.

Bought a Single Family home in Beaumont-Wilshire, Portland, OR:

We set out to buy a house for our daughter — in our neighborhood. A house around the corner came on the market on a Friday and by the following Monday we met Gavin at the house — and within an hour he was writing up an offer. Having not bought a house for many years, and not having a current realtor, we were delighted with Gavin’s manner and expertise. If I was buying another house I definitely “hire” him again…he is gracious, timely, considerate, knowledgable, and moved us through the process with ease. We got into a bidding war and we won — thank you Gavin! We couldn’t be happier with the house and with the service Gavin gave us during the process. PS: he is young and hip too!

Sold a home using Gavin:

Gavin helped me sell my dad’s house, as well as make the purchase of my own property. He is enormously helpful, responsive and clear about all the requirements and responsibilities involved in buying and selling property. He almost exclusively utilizes electronic signing and documentation services, which I really appreciated, as my home and work life didn’t have to be too disrupted during so much activity. Gavin is an all-around really great agent!

Bought a home in Portland, OR:

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Gavin. He is extremely knowledgeable about the housing in the Portland area and very aware of the neighborhoods and local property issues. He was responsive, enthusiastic and fair-minded in all his dealings with us. Part of the purchasing group was out of state and he worked seamlessly with that arrangement. We would not hesitate to recommend him.

Energy Efficient Homes!

You Would Think All New Construction is Energy Efficient? You Would be Wrong!
