I love real estate, plain and simple. From its ability to provide foundation for family and community, to its value as an investment vehicle, my job is more than just land and buildings. My job is to listen to you, learn what you want, and help you to achieve it. Whether residential or commercial, buying, selling, or leasing, I will make sure you understand the process and walk away happy. Licensed since 2004, with a background in project management and counseling, I am able to keep all parts of your transaction coordinated and talk you through any stressful times.

Originally from New York, I hopped a Greyhound bus to Oregon at 18 with a backpack and skateboard seeking a more relaxed way of life. Portland allows me to be who I am without pretense and hold true to my values. My community involvement has given me the opportunity to raise scholarship funds, mentor students, help seniors stay in their homes, and much more. One of my most treasured possessions is my 2005 Rotarian of the Year Award which is awarded for the highest level of service to the community. When not working or volunteering, I can be found on the racquetball courts or cooking with my family.

I love everything I do, in every aspect of my life, and that enthusiasm shines through.

What my clients have to say:

“Being an out of state property investor, it’s very important to have a broker that you trust and looks out for your interest. Howard Greenfield is a realtor that I have great trust in. He looks out for my interest, acts as a business partner when helping me to look for an investment property that fits my needs, and serves as my eyes and ears when I can’t be there. I would highly recommend Howard to out of state investors.” -Mary

“We are so happy with how our selling process went with Howard. He is an excellent communicator and very considerate. He worked hard behind the scenes, navigating the sale of our tricky mixed-use, commercial/residential property with ease.” -K and L

“Finding the perfect house with Howard Greenfield can be summed up in three words: savvy, thoughtful, and fun!  Howard has helped us find the perfect house twice; our first house in the burbs and our current long-term house near Alberta St.  On both occasions, he navigated the process in a creative way to ensure we were finding the right house and enjoying the search…meanwhile he managed the serious negotiations behind the scenes to ensure the house we picked was thoroughly inspected and would be a good long term real estate investment.  Howard advised us on how to ready our first house for selling and we sold it in less than 24 hours – even in 2007 when the real estate market was on the downward slope. When house hunting, he gave valuable feedback on each home we looked at; he took care to ensure we found the perfect home for our wants and needs, and also for future re-sale value.  We will always recommend Howard to our closest friends and family looking for a home in Portland – we are confident it’ll be the most enjoyable house buying experience they’ve ever had.  Our contact with Howard began as a co-worker’s recommendation when searching for our first home; since then he’s become a lifelong friend.” – Burton and Sarah W.

“I knew Howard through some community work we were doing together, so I asked him to submit a proposal for selling our house.  We knew the market was hot, and wanted to get in there before more properties came on the market in our neighborhood.  Howard came in as if he didn’t know us, explained very clearly what he thought our house could command and why, and how to maximize that potential.  After comparing his plan to a couple of other realtors, we felt like he had the best plan to get us the return we wanted.

He helped us work on what repairs and touch-ups to do to make it look as nice as possible. He explained what was going to happen when and why, and had us work with an admin at the main office to coordinate paperwork and the like.  All in all, the process was smooth and as painless as possible.
Even more importantly, he managed to find a buyer who was frustrated with bidding wars and was willing to pay well over market to secure his spot and wrap up the process early.  He stayed in close contact all through the offer, escrow, and inspection processes and subsequent negotiations, and Howard even came to closing.  We are ecstatic at the outcome and thrilled with Howard’s work on it. “- Joe T.

Union Rally

In all honesty, I didn’t expect to see a Union Rally in Portland. I was hit with a dose of reality yesterday when the president of AFSCME asked me to tag along to a good old union rally. It was an organized DCTU Rally complete with a stage, lighting, dj, and a march to City... More
