Alex and his sister Kristina (best looking brother/sister combo ever) came to me referred from my buddy Moira in LA (thanks dude!).  Alex was looking for an investment property, something he could easily rent out with little maintenance.  Kristina and I pounded the pavement while Alex was at work and looked at a few doozies.  Then we all went out one Saturday and found this really well kept house in Portsmouth.  It has two bedrooms on the main, and two bedrooms in the newly finished basement.  It’s set up in a way that is basically a duplex because the basement has it’s own entrance.  Not only that, but the garage is half way to an ADU. We struggled with what to offer in a multiple offer situation riding that fine line of not wanting to overpay but not wanting to lose it either.  Alex decided to go all in and presented them with a very generous offer, but also gave them a free month... More

My neighbors, Jim and Linda bought 10 acres on Whidbey Island knowing they would build their retirement home someday. They can’t believe it’s time already but they broke ground recently and now, with the sale of their town home in West Linn,  they are ready to head North. I wonder if Jim and Linda knew at the time of their purchase on Whidbey Island  that they had actually bought a piece of “The Rock?” Yes, apparently Whidbey Island has terrain that’s set in stone. Coupeville has Big Rock. West Beach has Rocky Point. Big stones and small stones cover almost every inch in between.  Joe Higgins, of Whidbey Island Gem Club said, “When glaciers scraped over the Island all types of rock came down from Canada. The ice plow stopped here.” Agates, jaspers, jade and garnets are just a few of the stones you might find while walking the beaches or just working in your backyard. So Jim and Linda, all my best to you in your retirement years and I hope you... More

Exit Stage Left

Heidi and John were seeking more space for their family.  They found a beautiful home with a much larger yard, several blocks East of their current home.  Not wanting to miss out on a great opportunity, they decided to purchase the home without selling their current residence. Once settled into their new home, they contacted me about listing their former residence in SE Portland.  After staging their beautiful American Foursquare property for optimum impact, they accepted an offer and were able to close! If you are considering moving up or downsizing, I would love to assist you in realizing your dream.  You can reach me, Cristen Lincoln, at 503-260-2414. More

My new listing is one we restorationists dream about..  A period-correct, vintage-styled, restoration/remodel! Take one informed owner + one slightly rough but mostly original house  + a lot of hard work and you have a dream home! Lisa and Vic purchased their 1938 English style home when it was quite rough. The original kitchen was darling, but had seen better days. Together with the fine workmen at Arciform, they re-created the original cabinetry including glass pulls from Rejuvenation Hardware and Pratt and Larson tile. Finishing off the vintage look, they used oak flooring, wood-framed modern Tilt-pack windows, and restored a very rare chrome ventilation fan!  Updating the cabinetry dimensions for modern appliances and city code,  the style is reminiscent of 1938 but totally usable today. They did such a fantastic job, the home was featured in the Oregonian’s Home and Gardens, and on the Architecture Heritage Center’s “Kitchen Revival Tour” in 2014. Beyond the kitchen, the sellers have focused on the whole main floor of the home, restoring the... More
