Blog Buyer A Perfectly Portland Home

A Perfectly Portland Home

The past

Maryanne contacted me from Chicago well over a year ago with a house that interested her.  She had plenty of time to look and was thinking on the two-year plan.  We communicated every few weeks and she would send me a home to review and possibly visit. Ultimately she moved on to something else. A few times her son Tim reached out to me. Since Tim is local participated as both boots on the ground as well as a future resident of the home.

Every few months Tim and I saw a home that didn’t quite work. The entire process was very tricky trying to identify something that Tim’s parents, Maryanne and Jon, would only see in pictures.  The home had to be just right. We were looking for something that would suit their unique situation.  We needed to be convinced, without hesitation, that we had found the ‘right’ Portland home. Jon and Maryanne live in a 100-year-old home in Chicago and even though they are very handy, they wanted something that required less than the demands of older homes.

Present day

Fast forward to this spring. Out of the blue, (it had been a few months), Maryanne contacts me.  She tells me that Tim had gone to an open house and found something exciting! This 1940’s ranch home boasts a backyard oasis with covered patio, fire pit, and ready to plant giant garden beds.  Jon and Maryanne could garden, relax and enjoy. In addition, there was a large heated shop for Tim to tinker with his cars!   This home had everything and couldn’t be more perfectly Portland. Jon actually flew into town to preview the home once we were in contract and he confirmed what we suspected, the house was ideal for them. It offered the right amount of updates to be made for handy homeowners but provided solid core systems that were maintained to ensure an excellent investment.

The transaction process went off without a hitch.  Even though we negotiated a few repairs, everyone on all sides responded quickly and communicated well.   Without a doubt, my experience with the listing agent was also so good, I know everyone had a great experience.   I’m excited for the family and thrilled that I got to be part of the purchase of a perfectly Portland home!
