Hygge in 3 Steps

By Daniela Sardo, September 25, 2019

Buying your first home can bring you feelings of safety and security, and by decorating your home using the Hygge method you can keep those feelings going way past getting your new keys!

Hygge is the Danish term for cosiness in interior design and decorating. It’s all about enjoying the simple things in life, savoring experiences, and being with the ones we love. It’s about creating a sense of home and safety where we can just let our guard down. Here are 3 easy ways to add some hygge to your home.

  1. Warm & Soft Lighting: They call it mood lighting for a reason! Creating a calm and cozy environment starts with turning off those overhead lights, and setting up some candles and twinkle lights. If you like scents, this lavender and sage candle can help calm your mind – while this magical  home candle is crafted with the intention to strengthen your sense of home.
  2. Cozy Up: Soft blankets, slippers, and pillows…cozy is king when it comes to Hygge. Local fav Sock Dreams meets all your slipper and sock needs and Pendleton is the Pacific Northwest’s favorite blanket supplier.
  3. Bring the Outdoors In: Houseplants provide a variety of benefits including removing indoor pollutants and creating healthier air – and being around plants can also help improve your concentration, memory, and productivity! Stop into Vancouver shop Shorty’s and ask for assistance picking out a plant that will thrive best in your home.

I was so pleased to help my first time buyer achieve his dream of owning a home, and hope the security he feels in his new home is enhanced by these cozy suggestions!
