What makes the ideal home?

By Living Room Realty, March 25, 2019

What are the most important aspects to the ideal home? Is it a place to be introspective or a place to look outward? Somewhere you accomplish tasks, sit and read or be with friends? Shelter from the storm or a chance be with nature?
248 NW Seblar Ct is in many ways my ideal house. Every room opened out to it’s own Japanese influenced garden. High ceilings with huge windows kept you in touch with what was happening outside but a fireplace and a wood stove kept you warm and secure. A generator kept all systems running should the weather knock out the power, as sometimes happens at this elevation above the city. The home has a serene feel from the extensive use of wood and stone: big solid beams, tongue-and-groove cedar ceilings, oak and stone floors. Distinct intimate spaces to read, craft or play piano opened to each other for large groups. A few steps allowed the house to follow the lines of the gently sloping site. The artful gardens opened to each but still gave privacy for each of the rooms they were connected to. A unique 20′ tall greenhouse provided space to shelter delicate plants in the winter and to get an early start on seedlings. An oversize garage with a loft provided lots of space to do messy projects.
I hope the new owners have many happy healthy years there.
