Nostalgia and New Beginnings – A Saul Zaik Home Exchanges Hands

By Living Room Realty, November 13, 2019

I’ve never had a real estate transaction that from start to finish was “so meant to be.” I wasn’t even previously a vigorous believer in “meant to be,” but after this sale, I might just have changed my own mind. The day the house came on the market, my client was prepared to write an offer on another house and was planning on flying back home. I sent her the house immediately, we met an hour later, saw it and she declared it to be perfect- just like the home she had raised her family in. I also knew that the house was perfect – a 1966 Saul Zaik designed home with not a bad renovation in sight. Meticulously maintained with some mechanical updates and sitting on a private, lush property with a winding pathway and a Handmaid’s Tale style glass greenhouse (with dutch door!).

There are so many additional reasons why this house was meant to be for my client, but during the walk through with the seller and the conversations had, there was a sense of closure for both parties. Both parties in the transaction were in a very similar part of their lives, saying goodbye to their family homes that meant so much to them and moving forward, on to new beginnings. One of my favorite conversations between the two, was when they both discovered that they each have a cat- one named Jack and one named Jake. The seller was delighted that the house would still have a cat in it. The seller left her record player for my client and they both discussed their boxes of vinyl. The list goes on…real estate transactions can get stressful or hard at times, but this was quite literally a most lovely transaction.
