The Gargoyle House

By Living Room Realty, February 25, 2020

Sometimes you’ve got to go on a bit of a journey to circle back to where you should have been all along. When I first starting touring homes with Leslie and Andrew they repeatedly referred back to a property that toured before we met. It was called the Gargoyle House (or GH for short). If you look closely at the picture above, you can see two gargoyle centuries flanking the gothic, imported from Europe, front door. Those two represent half of the total gargoyle population.

After touring all the available houses in Lake Oswego and pursuing multiple housing ideas, we finally toured the GH together. There was literally a family of deer grazing in the side yard when we pulled up. The house backs up to Lily Bay which has a narrow canal to the Lake. You could take an SUP or a small canoe from the rear of the house to the center of the lake and back before breakfast everyday, all summer if you wanted. From the east side of the house you look out on to the bay and green forest…it feels more like Oswald West State Park than Lake Oswego. The house is super-unique and it was a bold move to make the purchase. And a fun journey along the way.
