Blog Stories More than Background Noise

More than Background Noise

By Living Room Realty, August 20, 2020

Music has always been in the background of our lives when we’re in the elevator, in the car, in the shower, or even at the trendiest bar in town.

But have you ever noticed what happens when there isn’t music around? How boring your showers and car rides become. How extremely awkward your elevator rides are now. Or even how silent and dull Friday nights out are.

Thus, have we ever really taken a step back and really paid attention to the impact music has on us?

Music has had a more significant purpose than providing background noise and entertainment in our lives – it’s been there during our biggest moments in life. From the lowest moments like during our first break-up when we were teens crying in our rooms and hiding from the world. To the highest peaks, like when we are walking down the aisle and having our first slow dance together. In other words, it marks significant moments in our lives. It helps us relive old cherished memories that we forget about because of our busy day to day lives.

Most importantly, it helps us process the emotions the mind otherwise can’t.

One of my favorite things to do (pre-COVID) was to visit record stores and just browse for old throwbacks. I would find hidden gems of artists and albums I used to listen to when I was growing up. Jamming out to Justin Timberlake on my way to school was my thing!!! So if you have time and feel comfortable, I highly recommend visiting your local records store like Jump Jump Music to relive those memories again.
