It’s almost time!!!! Fall is almost here!!!
And this all means… Pumpkin patches and Corn Mazes (social distance style of course)!
I always make a point to my family that I refuse to take them to a grocery store to pick out their pumpkins. While there is nothing wrong with that, I just believe Halloween and Fall is a whole experience. It just doesn’t seem “complete” or right without an annual trip to your local farm to pick out pumpkins. Not only does it help local businesses, but it also is a great way to spend quality time with the whole gang!
I mean sure there is moaning and groaning from the kids not wanting to travel out to a “muddy” farm, but once we’re there – everyone has a blast! We have a competition to see who can pick out the biggest pumpkin and carry it home by themselves! After that, we’ll head to the corn maze and have another competition to see which team can get out the quickest!
After all that madness of running around, we always end our trip with hot apple cider or hot chocolate. It definitely soothes the soul and our bodies after running around in the cold for an hour or two.
Lately, my favorite go to spot has been Velvet Acres Gardens where they also have farm fresh produce and flowers as well! Not only do I go here for pumpkins, but also for produce & groceries because I’m able to ensure that the food & ingredients my family consues are from sustainable sources. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re ever in the NE Vancouver area!
