“Call me, I miss you!”

By Leanne Bach, December 2, 2020

I woke up this morning and thought about a client of mine whom I’ve been speaking to (almost on a daily basis) for the past 8 months. I missed our chats. My transaction with her and her family was unusually long. They’d sold their home in March, when the pandemic first hit here. Their wants and needs list wasn’t crazy, but it made for a rare property. So we looked…and we looked..

Her husband works for the fire department, so we had to juggle showings around his crazy schedule, and then there were the fires! There were a few properties we were considering that were insanely close to the fires, so we waited, in order to ensure the properties remained in the clear. At this point, my clients were living in their parent’s house at the coast. 3 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat and mom and dad. In a small house. Distance learning with the kiddos and traveling to and from Portland in order to view any potential properties can take a toll on one’s mental health don’t you think? We all felt it.

As we entered into Fall, an old family home became available out towards wine country. Hubby was in CA fighting fires and we had to move quickly on making a decision as to what to offer and how to convince the sellers that my clients were MEANT for this home. The sellers agreed that my clients were the ones, and chose our offer out of the multiple offers they received. We were biting our nails when the husband got to see the house for the first time..at the inspection, no less. Talk about nerve racking, ha ha!

Well, the property worked out. It was a long road, we had a messy appraisal that I had to fight, but ultimately the sellers (and their wonderful agent) worked so closely with us to make all sides happy, we closed last week and my clients will be in their new home to celebrate Christmas. Kyle, if you’re reading this, it’s so nice to know you’ll have some happy tears to cry this time. I miss talking to you everyday, but the trade off is worth it. When this pandemic is in the past, I can’t wait to run through your yard and watch the kiddos chase the unicorns.
