Twilight on the Harbor

By Jené DeSpain, January 25, 2021

With multiple offers to choose from, my sellers decided to select the buyers that were able to bring them everything they were hoping for; really strong terms and a personal love for fishing. I have had the joy of working with the sellers and their family on a number of property sales. This one was by far the most sentimental. Their place at the coast had been where they had spent over four decades together, exploring the beauty of Oregon’s Northern entrance into the Pacific.

Photos of voyages on the boat, the kids holding up their fish bounty, and holidays in front of the fireplace hang on their fridge back home in Portland. The stories they tell about how their father found and successfully bought the place before it was even fully built are touching and speak to a time when things were perhaps a little easier and certainly dreamier.

I drove out this weekend to hand over the last set of keys to the very sweet new owners, who shared with me how much they adored the location and were so delighted to have this new home for their own. I stood at the edge of the gardens looking out over the harbor, watching the twinkle of the dock lights reflect on the water. The serenity of home can be found in an array of places, but the grounding it brings and the valuable effect this has on us is something we all can agree on.
