At the corner of Laurelhurst Park

By Jené DeSpain, April 12, 2021

As long as Erin and her twins have lived in SE Portland, they have been enjoying their regular visits to Laurelhurst Park. When we met back in December, Erin shared the primary factor of what she was looking for in a new purchase was location location location. She wanted to stay close to Laurelhurst. As many SE residents can tell you, this neck of the woods is very sought after and listings are few and far between.

Over the next few months, we stayed steady in our search. Time was on our side, so we patiently toured everything that came to market in Erin’s price range and kept our thoughts on the positive. As 2021 inched towards Spring, housing was soaring in price with still just a small number of homes coming to market. After one visit to a house over in the Belmont neighborhood that had so many needed repairs Erin’s head was starting to spin, we stood out front and I asked her, “What if we started looking at condos? They have small, charming yards, tend to be well maintained, and while there are not a ton of them in the neighborhoods we’re looking in, a condo might be just what you are hoping for….” She was initially not warmed by the idea, but said she would sleep on it.

A few days later she called, “Let’s go look at this condo!” My fellow Living Room agent, Karim had just listed a really beautiful condo in Erin’s price range, so we popped over to see it. She loved the modern features and the location was great, but it wasn’t quite right. She told me there was another condo that had been on the market for a lil while, but she wasn’t wild about the photos. I told her we should definitely go see it! The places that have the questionable photos are sometimes the best listings hidden in disguise. Just as we were about to go visit, the condo was pulled from the market! I called the agent and he shared the owner was taking a break but might re-list it soon. Erin and I kept a hawk eye on it, and we connected with the agent as soon as it popped back up. We raced over to see it, and she just loved it. Big airy bedrooms, high ceilings, lovely main level, with a delightful back patio and yard. The best part, it’s at the corner of Laurelhurst Park. Congratulations Erin! It’s always so special to see client’s dreams manifest. This was a particularly fun one! Wishing you and the girls the most wonderful time creating home at that gorgeous place.
