When I first met Amy and Steve at an Open House in September they were beginning their house hunt and had a very specific area for their search in SW Portland. Mid-Century style, a large lot, and proximity were are at the top of the list. We looked for a few weeks and came upon a house that had been on the market for a while and went in with an aggressive offer that won the day. The house had its challenges, but the most difficult was the drainage in the back and the communication of the agent on the other side. We had our inspections and pushed for more time to properly investigate the cause and remedy of the pooling water in the backyard. After gathering all the data we made our request and ended up terminating. The drama was minimal as I had had good conversations along the way about which way the deal could turn at every decision point. My clients were amazing, pragmatic, and positive.
We moved on, cut our losses, and kept hunting. We found a house that matched their criteria and again made a strong offer that won. My clients had been hesitant to make an offer because of the current climate for buyers, but they persevered. I told them that for every given offer, you never know who you are competing against, it could be other buyers, the seller’s conscience, or circumstances beyond our control. In this case, their offer was accepted within three hours of submission. The deal has been smooth sailing in large part due to the co-op agent on the other side, great communication, and thorough investigation. I am thrilled for my clients who take possession of their next week, no one deserves it more.
