Eastside Movie-Lover Paradise

By Living Room Realty, May 1, 2018

This area of Portland near Laurelhurst and Sunnyside is teeming with entertainment options all within such a short distance. Great to walk, bike, unicycle, roller-skate, skip or just plain ol’ fashioned mosey on over to.  If you feel like taking in the latest hit, there’s the Laurelhurst Theatre, a former second run theatre that just made the leap into first run features. Or try the 90 year old Hollywood Theatre, Portland’s Historic Nonprofit Theatre for smaller and more independent movies. Plus once a month, they host “B Movie Bingo,” where the audience looks for B movie cliches and tropes to compete for prizes. A little to the south, you can take in a first run flick and eating pub food and having a beer while you’re watching, there’s McMenamin’s Bagdad Theatre and Pub, a splendid remnant of the Golden Age in Hollywood. But if you’d rather watch at home, stop by Movie Madness, a video rental store with its own Museum of over 100 props and costume pieces to enjoy while you browse their selections of films to rent.
