Helping Neighbors Buy a Home

By Living Room Realty, May 17, 2018

It’s a strange thing to sell a home to your neighbors because it most often means they’ll be moving away.

We met Dan and Signe over 11 years ago when each of our families moved into Ladd’s Addition. Living across the alley from one another, we’d often visit while our dogs and kids played. We each became the first families on our block to have backyard chickens. We raised our first flock and built our first coops the same spring. We’ve cared for one another’s hens, dogs and homes while away, and have always enjoyed our visits.

So when Dan and Signe first approached me about wanting to downsize, it was pretty bittersweet. I was honored that they’d thought of me to help them with their home buying/selling process, but sad to think of them no longer across the alley from us. Fortunately we were able to find them a home just blocks away, so we’ll be able to still keep in touch and hopefully bump into one another in the neighborhood.

They’ve been the perfect neighbors and now we’re going to miss having these two so nearby. Although I’m confident the new neighbors will be lovely folks, the house across the alley way will always be Dan and Signe’s place to us.

Congrats Dan and Signe on the purchase of your fabulous new home!! Wishing you many years ahead of happy memory making in your new place!
