Peaceful in the Pearl

By Living Room Realty, May 23, 2018

When we met with Don and his family to start their condo search, the biggest criteria was proximity to OHSU + public transit. There are several complexes that are close to the hospital/university, but most of them are 1980’s-ish condo conversions that are either on a busy street, have an assessment on the horizon and/or a lack of charm. The Pearl District is kind of on the fringe of accessibility to OHSU, but the livability of those buildings more than makes up for the extra 10 minutes of daily transit time.

The unit that they ultimately landed on was on the 6th floor of the Marshall-Wells building. This is a really cool condo-conversion project from the early 2000’s. The building was originally build in 1910 and was used for various purposes over the years. When they converted it, everything was retrofitted to a modern standard, but on the inside of each unit you can still see portion of the original wood structure and the heavy duty bolts and brackets. It’s pretty cool.
