The Hatfield Marine Science Center is an exciting link between the public and marine research and education. The Visitor Center is just one element of the campus of laboratories and classrooms where scientists and OHSU students conduct world-class research on topics ranging from whale migration and undersea volcanoes to global climate change. The Visitor Center helps bring their work to the public through exhibits, lectures, seminars, and other activities.
Some of the featured exhibits at the visitor center include a tide-pool touch tank where you can touch the sticky tentacles of a sea anemone or get a hug from a sea urchin; a tsunami wave tank where you can build a structure and see if it withstands the energy of a tsunami; and an octopus tank where you can watch staff feed this eight legged creature!
The Hatfield Marine Science Center is free and fun for folks of all ages!
