I met the Williams family through a referral by a friend (and client, thanks again Kelli!), and loved hearing they were ready to buy their first home for their growing family. They had till June before their second kiddo’s due date, and wanted to get started before the market in Portland hit its seasonal summertime peak.
This was really smart about for a few reasons. 1.) Less competition overall, and less chances for a bidding war that escalates well over asking, 2.) While not as much inventory is available in the slower season, sellers are serious about getting their homes sold as opposed to perhaps being more motivated to get the most $$, and 3.) They were prequalified and sent a solid message of their seriousness to purchase to sellers. Plus, cramming two of life’s big events into the same timeframe may end up being a little overwhelming. Just saying.
They’d done their homework and gone through my buyer’s book I put together, ‘So you Wanna Buy a House‘, had their financial house in order, pre-approval in hand and were ready to go look. We spent a Saturday (one!) looking at a few houses we’d honed in on, and by the fourth house, they knew they’d found “it”. Yay, efficiency! They put a solid offer in, and learned there was another coming. We’d prepared for that and through the broker dialogue and solid relationship we built, the Williams’ were able to get an offer accepted and start packing.
Yesterday, I got to hand the keys to their great new home, on a half acre (!!) in Tigard… just in time for Valentine’s Day. It’s going to be a wonderful place for their sweet family: close to school, work and friends and family. Seeing little T run around in his room giggling made *me* feel like doing a happy dance. This is my why for Real Estate.

In 2023 I launched Hi Buddy Hospitality Group, a burgeoning hostel and restaurant in NE Portland. I also am a member of Project Color Corps Portland Chapter, a national non-profit that collaborates with people to add color to their essential community spaces, creating beauty, belonging, and joy.
