Bittersweet but happy

By Living Room Realty, June 7, 2022

Selling a home has always been an exciting endeavor for me.  There are so many unknowns from the beginning.  It usually starts with a meeting where you don’t know what to expect but you prepare your numbers, take a deep breath, and hope for the best.  This time was different.  One of my closest friends since moving to Portland had been texting and calling me about what she could get for her house.  It made me nervous seeing as she is only a 5 minute walk from my home and we hang out about 1-2 x a week.  And then it came: a statement that usually excites me but this time garnered a pit in my stomach “we want you to list our house”.

After many deep discussions and some almost tearful revelations we have placed her home on the market.  It’s a rare commodity these days, especially in Portland, to have a home like this for sale and I’m honored to be the agent.

I will sell this beautiful home and know that it will bring many more exciting memories to someone else but I will not look at it the same way.  I’ve spent several hours in that backyard and many more enjoyable conversations at the kitchen table.  I will sell it knowing it will allow my “client” to take the proceeds out and use it to advance her family’s life in a way that will forever impact her child’s life.  Bittersweet but happy is all I can think of at this time.
