Business Unusual – Real Estate in the Time of COVID-19

By Gabrielle Enfield, March 18, 2020

Hi Readers –

Whew. I know I’m not alone when I say this adjustment over the last week has been A LOT. But, we’re adjusting and doing our best. Because that’s all we can do, right?

In between being a homeschooler and crafting wanna-be, I’ve spent the last few days reaching out to my clients and colleagues in real estate to be a resource during these uncertain times. We had a company-wide virtual meeting, led by our founder and CEO, to discuss how we continue to service our clients, while staying safe and respecting social distancing. I’ve been following the market, talking with my lender partners, to get a better understanding of impacts to real estate. I’ve hosted virtual real estate clinics with companies and am available to answer questions. And, the headline takeaway is – we will get through this. How it looks may be a little different. But we will get through this.

If you are thinking about buying – here’s what to expect:

  • Rates to remain low — market adjusting to overwhelming demand for refinances, rates will even out and it’s a GREAT time to get a home loan
  • No access to open houses
  • Private, broker-led tours
  • Sanitation stations, glove up and booties on
  • Look but don’t touch
  • Digital transactions
  • Timelines may need to extend to accommodate inspections, appraisal resource drain

If you are planning to sell:

  • Buyers are still “out” in force – homes are still going pending in days with multiple offers. They’ve been pre-approved and ready to buy – WITH NOTHING TO CHOOSE FROM
  • Inventory is incredibly low. It’s a GREAT time to sell.
  • Technology and digital assets are key – 3D video, virtual tours. Ask me about my background in video production and how I can help
  • Staging is still happening and key, but a solo endeavor
  • No open houses
  • Set up sanitation areas, hand washing stations
  • It’s OK to say no to tours if you are immuno-compromised

I’m here for you. If you want to chat about recipes, paint colors, how to keep kids engaged, exercise tips, sharing stories or just to… be. I’m here for you. And if you are ready to seize this uncertainty and turn it into opportunity, I’m by your side. Just six feet away.

Here’s a virtual hug and a puppy.

Till then, high fives,

Gabrielle Enfield

Real estate can be a wild ride. It's important you find your wingwoman.

I understand the important decision of choosing an agent. It's a relationship for the long haul. My goal is to apply my myriad experiences, both personally and professionally, to help guide my client partners through a thoughtful, strategic, seamless and fun journey. Need an understanding of where to start, when it comes to getting ready to sell? I'll put my background in project management to work and let you know what needs to happen, complete with spreadsheets, if you're into it. Looking to purchase a vacation property and need it to generate rental income? I'll sharpen my pencil and make sure the numbers make sense. First-timer who needs a steady hand to help guide you through the real estate process? This Mama Bear's got you covered, and will be sure to point out what you need to look for. Moving to PDX and need a proxy to get to know Rose City? I'm a Pac NW native, and even with all its growth and change, this place still gives me butterflies. I grew up in Woodland, Washington, and am a proud resident of North Portland, where I'm raising my family. #boymom Before real estate, my career spans two decades of expertise I'm fortunate enough to apply every day. These experiences range from being a TV news anchor (visual storyteller) to helping develop some of the world's beloved brands (strategy and engagement). I was practically born with a tool belt on: my Dad is a retired custom home designer and builder, my uncle is an architect and my Grandpa was a Realtor and developer. I am an active listener, have a keen eye for "good bones",  and solving my clients' real estate needs in a creative and often unexpected way brings me joy. Plus, the lasting relationships formed are cherries on the sundae! Please give me a call - I'd love to see what it would be like to partner with you. For a look inside my everyday life, be sure to follow along on Instagram. High fives!
