A delicate dance toward CLOSING!

By Living Room Realty, December 14, 2021

Congratulations to my friends and clients, Mally and James, on closing on their move-up home!

I am not gonna lie. The journey from making an offer to closing day was harrowing. Every once in a while, you have a transaction that feels like it is dangling by a thread the entire time. This was that transaction. Grey hairs were grown over this 6-week period.

Inspections turned up structural concerns. Contractors were hard to come by – especially those who specialized in log-built homes. The house is in deep Hillsboro, making it even harder to get PDX-based contractors to come out and give bids. Additionally, the Sellers had secured their next home in Medford, and were on a tight timeframe.

We had to extend the inspection period twice, and because of the uniqueness of the home, the appraisal took longer than expected as well. In the end, after many conversations, restless nights, and a major price reduction, we were able to come together. Today, I had the pleasure of calling them

Cheers to James, Mally, and their two dogs, Turkey and Ghost, who now have 5 acres to run and play on! Now, we get to turn our sights on listing their Portland home…stay tuned 🙂
