The last time I worked with Calvin was to close the sale of his home to finalize his divorce proceedings. Two years later, he contacted me again, this time with a happier assignment. He was looking for a home with his soon to be fiancee and wanted me to help them.
I met them that same evening at a house that they had spotted. I liked Sarah right away, with her sensible and practical attitude, very down to earth, I was glad to see Calvin in such good company.
That home was the first of many, along the way we probably visited 25 homes and wrote 5 offers due to the very competitive market. We also dealt with the Covid-19 outbreak and the uncertainty it created. But all the searching and offer writing taught Calvin and Sarah to get a good sense of value and to jump at the opportunity when it showed. As a result, they ended up having the winning bid on the prettiest home they had tried to purchase, it was really their dream home.
Once in contract, the challenges continued, their lender/friend changed companies in the middle of the transaction, a leak was detected after inspections and the appraiser came up with substantially less square footage than what the agent had advertised. We were able to reach agreement on all the issues with good communication and great attitude from all parties. Yesterday Calvin and Sarah took possession of their new home and we celebrated in their patio. I am going to miss hanging out with them.
