Another Time at Summer Camp…

By Living Room Realty, July 18, 2019

This story happened in the summer of 2012, going into my Junior year of college. It was my first year of working at Camp Howard (see this other piece I wrote for more context) and I remember walking up to the first staff get together that took place on the camp basketball courts. I literally knew one person going into the summer, and I didn’t even know them that well. When I got to the first staff gathering, the one person I knew was not present.

I was wondering around in a mass of people when I heard two guys talking about the upcoming NBA draft. I immediately knew these were my people and it all went uphill from there. One of those people were named Ryan. Even though years have passed, and I’ve only stayed in contact with a few people from that Camp, Ryan, thankfully, is one of those people! I was extremely fortunate to work with them in the purchase of their home, for a few reasons. First, he was purchasing the home with his parents. This is a common occurrence with my clientele. A lot of people I work with need some sort of aid, a co-sign, a gift, help with the down payment. But Ryan and both of his parents are on title and the loan. The important difference with this, is that Ryan’s parents have purchased homes in the area before and have used their own REALTOR®. The fact that they trusted me with their son was a truly humbling experience.

In the end, the transaction went well! Ryan has his new home and a place for his parents’ to visit! Best part of it, it’s only 4 blocks away from where I live! Here’s to winter days in that new hot tub…
