What should I eat? Or rather yet, what am I in the mood for?
The question of the century!
Have you ever spent an hour or two scrolling through Grubhub looking for something that catches your eye?
“Is it going to be Hawaiian food? Maybe Vietnamese – but I just had pho the other day… OOOH then what about Chipotle? Well I just had McDonalds the other night so maybe I should go for a more ‘healthier’ option…”
I don’t know about you, but I typically need a good hour and a half to spend time researching what I actually want to eat. First world problems I know, but I’m in the constant battle with Portland’s food scene where there are so many options from local restaurants, sustainable food sources, and popular chains – I can never decide!
Given the COVID19 pandemic, I’ve been trying to do my best to support our local businesses during these trying times while practicing safe measures to protect me and my community. Thus, every week I try to pick a new local business or restaurant to support, but lately I’ve been cautious about going into restaurants and dining in or picking up orders.
After spending many dollars on delivery and service fees on Grubhub, it finally hit me! FOOD CARTS! They are always around a community of other food carts in an open outdoor space – plenty of room for social distancing. What’s even better is that they have every option imaginable and you can just spend a quick 10 minutes roaming around the area looking for the one your heart desires!
My latest favorite has been the Happy Valley Station Food Carts where parking is a breeze and they have so many diverse options!
