Because Dreams Really Do Come True

By Living Room Realty, August 25, 2019

For a first time home buyer, it takes a patient agent to not only understand their needs, but also to make sure they are realistic. Jane wanted a home that was turn key, a Pinterest kitchen, close into the city, fenced yard for the dogs, finished basement so she can rent out/Airbnb, historic charm and all for under the magic $350k number. I explained I am a firm believer that while it might take some time (especially at this aggressive price point)- what’s meant to be, will truely be! We looked at several houses and I could see the dream and reality start to merge and set in. Finishing a basement is expensive, and frankly buying a home can be terrifying. With a gentle hand, I kept Jane in the game. We quickly found one that she liked, and within a few hours there were 9 offers. The next one we found was off the market before she could even get to it. I kept pushing her to think about the east side, though she was really hell bent on the west. One sunny afternoon, we made a short list of homes and planned to meet up on the east side. I pulled up to the first home and saw her car parked out front. “Jane??” (nothing).. “Hey Jane?” (nothing…) I went through the gate to the back yard to find her laying on the deck’s bench, sunglasses on and sunbathing with her music playing softly. “Oh! Hey Nichole! Welcome to my new back yard!….. I love it here!!”. “Oh my gosh” I chuckled, “let’s check this place out!”. I opened the door to the darling home in Woodstock and gasped, “Oooh Jane!.. It’s amazing!”, my heart warmed at the absolutely charming home. A large closet, updated appliances, ample space to entertain and even a built-in office relecting it’s 1914 roots. My “first time home buyer” spidey senses were on high alert when I said “ok.. let do it, let’s go to the basement” (I cringed at what we could potentially discover). We walked down stairs, into the basement and I heard her heart beat out of her chest, with windows on every wall, brand new concrete flooring and AC already blowing in, I knew we had just landed something special. “Ok” She squealed “Let’s do it! Let’s make an offer; this is my house! I need it!”. Knowing that they were reviewing that coming Tuesday I knew we still had a shot, it also told me that they were expecting several offers to come in. After anxiously waiting several days to hear back, we shrieked that while our aggressive offer was great- our “love letter” bio was just what the seller was looking for! Jane, Congrats on sincerely the most perfect first home!
