One of my very favorite hikes (especially when it’s “Portland” hot) is to wander through the tree covered trails from Macleay park up to the Pittock Mansion. A great trek for solo hikers or those with kiddos in tow. Grab a coffee and head out early before it gets too crowded. 2 1/2 miles up to this amazing view (maybe take a picnic or a book) and then an easy downhill back. And of course a stop at Salt n Straw for a cone on the way home makes everyone happy. Not a bad way to spend a summer day…
