Buying an Mid-Century home from the 102 year old owner

By Living Room Realty, February 26, 2019

Just helped a client close on their new home – a 1956 Mid-century ranch, untouched since it was built. A mid-century enthusiast, my buyer has been dreaming about this home since the day it hit the market. This home had been lived in by the original owner since it was constructed in 1956 by her and her husband. They purchased the plot (FOR $10 DOLLARS!!!) in 1953 and constructed the home 3 years later when she was 38. The original owner turned 102 this year and she finally decided to pass along her home to the next generation – my buyer – who hopes to stay in the home until she is too is 102.

I cant wait to see how she preserves mid-century charm and makes her own lasting impression on a home she envisions living in for a long long time to come.

Childhood photo of the original owner and the sale deed for the plot of land. FOR $10 DOLLARS!
