Curb Appeal Vol. 7:  Neighborhood Spotlight – Portland’s Historic Woodlawn district

THE HISTORY:

Long serving as one of the city’s best-kept secrets, Portland’s Historic Woodlawn district is gaining prominence among newcomers, homebuyers and tourist. Established in the 1860s, Woodlawn is the oldest neighborhood to be settled within the former city of Albina, which later consolidated into Portland. The addition of a railroad in 1888 stimulated the area’s economy, transforming the former farm community into a commercial destination.

According to Portland Monthly’s most recent real estate market study, Portland’s Boise-Eliot neighborhood is estimated to experience a growth in average home prices of nearly 65% within the next five years.
