Do or Do Not. There is No Try.

By Gabrielle Enfield, January 8, 2020

I first met Rohan in spring of 2019. As a first-time buyer, he had a pretty specific set of criteria. Condo living suited him best. He wanted a low maintenance yard. He needed high ceilings and hardwoods. A vented hood in the kitchen. Two car parking was a must. Reasonable HOA. And, he wanted a view. I helped him understand that it would probably take a while for us to find the right place, but we were going to make it happen. Because, in the words of Yoda, Do or Do Not. There is No Try.

Attitude and mindset is a big part of real estate. It’s easy to quickly go to a place of discouragement if the right place doesn’t immediately pop up. Especially in the market right now – inventory is low. If you can, be patient and channel your inner Jedi. Know that more homes are coming, and the market is about to enter its upswing, where more inventory is available. With more inventory, comes more buyers, AKA competition – so it’s really important you have all the pieces in play for when the right home comes up for you. Talk to a lender to understand your purchase power. Find the right real estate partner (I’d love to be considered!). Hone in on your must-haves and good-to-haves, and be ready to make some compromises. And if it involves selling a home, please reach out to me for a listing consultation; often times, sellers are poised to make repairs or remodels that won’t impact their bottom line at closing. Don’t waste your time or money. Do talk to a real estate expert first, to line up the optimal timing to make a move.

Speaking of time, it may have taken Rohan eight months to find his perfect place… but in the interim I was able to join him on the journey of getting engaged, career advancements, helping two of his friends buy new homes, and now, getting ready to move into his beautiful condo with a view of Mt. Hood, the waterfront, and a killer master en suite. That’s the good stuff.

If 2020 involves a real estate resolution, may the force be with you. And, I hope you #callgab 503 388 2788

Till then,

High fives!

Real estate can be a wild ride. It's important you find your wingwoman.

I understand the important decision of choosing an agent. It's a relationship for the long haul. My goal is to apply my myriad experiences, both personally and professionally, to help guide my client partners through a thoughtful, strategic, seamless and fun journey. Need an understanding of where to start, when it comes to getting ready to sell? I'll put my background in project management to work and let you know what needs to happen, complete with spreadsheets, if you're into it. Looking to purchase a vacation property and need it to generate rental income? I'll sharpen my pencil and make sure the numbers make sense. First-timer who needs a steady hand to help guide you through the real estate process? This Mama Bear's got you covered, and will be sure to point out what you need to look for. Moving to PDX and need a proxy to get to know Rose City? I'm a Pac NW native, and even with all its growth and change, this place still gives me butterflies. I grew up in Woodland, Washington, and am a proud resident of North Portland, where I'm raising my family. #boymom Before real estate, my career spans two decades of expertise I'm fortunate enough to apply every day. These experiences range from being a TV news anchor (visual storyteller) to helping develop some of the world's beloved brands (strategy and engagement). I was practically born with a tool belt on: my Dad is a retired custom home designer and builder, my uncle is an architect and my Grandpa was a Realtor and developer. I am an active listener, have a keen eye for "good bones",  and solving my clients' real estate needs in a creative and often unexpected way brings me joy. Plus, the lasting relationships formed are cherries on the sundae! Please give me a call - I'd love to see what it would be like to partner with you. For a look inside my everyday life, be sure to follow along on Instagram. High fives!
