I Love these guys. No, really–I see this photo of Adam and Julia and my heart expands. I first met Adam and his mom, Laura (the third partner of our Buyer team) in 2012 when they purchased a 1910 fixer craftsman on Division. 8 years, 1 wedding, 2 kids (and a 3rd on the way) later, it was time to find a home that fit their current lives. It took a few offers to find the right match but come July we found a North Portland vintage house with rooms for all! This new home also had an in-law apartment at the ready for Julia’s mom. After a long escrow that could’ve been extremely painful had there not been incredible people involved on ALL fronts, we just closed! Eyes on the Prize and Worth the Wait has been our double- mantra!
At time of our offer in July, we knew that the city needed to retroactively permit the conversion of a bedroom into a bath. The list agents were terrific and smart with their guidance of the sellers, tough loving them into understanding the need to make that big remodel right with the city. We knew this endeavor could take a while but never dreamed just how far behind the city of PDX really was. Two months past the original close date with progress made but things still to do on the city’s checklist, we agreed to close. With the safeguard of a chunk of the seller’s money held in escrow, ownership transferred last Friday. Adam and Julia and their three kids have officially taken up the stewardship of their new home, a property that has NEVER been on the open market since first built in 1929!
The best part of my job is always the people I serve. Sure, I love the architecture of homes and vibrancy of our PDX neighborhoods but it is the souls who inhabit the places that give it all meaning. Laura, Adam and Julia have tripled blessed me and are balm for my soul in a turbulent time. Their generosity of spirit, endless expressions of gratitude and joyful embrace of the process fuel my raison d’etre in real estate. Congratulations, sweet and wonderful Team Baldwin!
