Get Your Garden On!

By Annalisa Peña, March 31, 2022

Community gardens deliver many benefits to a neighborhood! They provide fresh, local fruits, vegetables, herbs, and medicine. They serve as patches of pollinator-friendly habitat for the bugs, beetles, and birds that help our world grow. And they bring together our communities to work the land, play in the sun and rain, and learn from each other. If you’re looking to buy a home, consider checking to see if there’s a community garden nearby. If you already live near one – lucky you! Here are a few of my favorite gardens around Portland. Each of them has their own character and style with something unique to offer urbanites and farm folk alike. Even if you never plant something yourself, just passing by these sanctuaries brings a little joy. Take a biking tour around town and explore them all!

Colonel Summers Community Garden
Next to a field with picnic tables, basketball and tennis courts, and a summer splash pad for the kids, this park is a hub for people of all ages and mobility to share healthy space.

Sewallcrest Community Garden
Complete with a large kids’ play area, baseball diamond and a HUGE dog-friendly field, Sewallcrest Park is an anchor in the heart of SE Portland.

Earl Boyles Community Garden
Recently expanded with more than a dozen new garden plots, Earl Boyles is answering the call for more public space in one of the most popular parts of East Portland!

A Portland native, my vast knowledge of the city’s geography and current market can support you in your residential real estate endeavors.

I am motivated by helping others, and I’m excited to help you find the best real estate solution for your lifestyle. My passion and years of experience in interior design and home renovation offer you a skilled perspective in aesthetics and function. I will actively advocate for and represent you with the best service, ensure that you are making the right decision, and manage your transaction and moving pieces with the utmost professionalism. I attended Oregon State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Merchandising Management and Interior Design. After spending 8 years in the window treatment industry (blinds and drapery will always have a special place in my heart!), I launched my real estate career. I work with a wide variety of clients, from first time home buyers to investors and those relocating to Portland. Design work allows my creative spirit to roam and I was honored to be featured in Oregon Home magazine. I chose to work at Living Room Realty because of their dedication to enriching communities across the Portland area, and I’m so happy that I get to build relationships with clients right here at home. In my downtime, you can find me at my kid’s soccer game, helping paint a neighborhood intersection, or sneaking away to Black Butte for a weekend at the cabin.
