Abby and Charlie have been old friends of mine that had just recently moved back after finishing Grad School. They were on the hunt for their first homeland and were specifically in search of a “project house” that they could make their own. We looked at quite a few homes all over Portland but it was slim pickings given the historically low inventory. The ones that were in their price range had major issues and just weren’t ideal for a first home. When they started to feel down about their housing prospects, I told them they should sit back and let me do the leg work so that they could reserve their emotional and mental energy. I also suggested that they should start to look at some homes that were a bit more move-in ready, because the true sweat equity possibilities were too slim. Shortly after that a colleague of mine had let me know of a new listing he had coming up that I knew would be perfect for them. Abby and Charlie just fell head over heels for this sweet little house nestled in the perfect neighborhood. It was near a park that they could take their pup to and a skate park for Charlie as he loves to skate in his free time. Abby and Charlie connected almost immediately with the sellers as they bonded very much on being artists and hobbies that all 4 were interested in. There were lots of offers made, and even few that were priced over Abby and Charlie’s, but with the terms they had and the blossoming relationship with the sellers, they won! Congrats to Abby and Charlie on their new home and new friends!
