Iron Woman Emily

By Marissa Sainz, October 10, 2018

I met Emily at a first Thursday fun run a few years ago.

She was living in a rental condo and mentioned to me she was thinking of buying in the building. A month or so later Emily reached out to let me know she wanted to purchase a condo in her building two levels up. We met and looked at a few others in the complex for comparison, but Emily had already done all of her research and made up her mind on the condo she wanted and for what price.

After Emily closed on that condo we became friends on social media. I watched her updates as she began running and biking more than the average Portlander. After some time she began posting about her training for an Iron Man race and completing it!  For those that don’t know what an Iron Man is, it is an incredible race that includes a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run. Her motivating posts and determination are continually inspiring to me. I love pulling up my instagram and seeing her progress towards goals.

This year Emily called because she wanted to move from a condo to a house. In Iron Woman Emily fashion we looked for two days in the areas she had decided were desirable for her commute and social life. Within one week she was under contract on a new home in St. John’s. I joke with Emily about her decisiveness and quick decision making, but it is truly backed by her research and cerebral consideration. I am in awe of her ability to put her mind to something, lay out a plan, and accomplish the task in record time, weather it be an incredibly daunting physical race or a new venture in real estate.
