Pandemic times have forced us to do everything, even down to the little things, differently. My latest clients are wonderful examples of how the COVID world has changed the realty one. Scott and Ruth live in Whistler, CAN and we did everything via FaceTime. We found this fantastic Downtown PDX condo and they purchased the home without ever seeing it in person. They even were able to buy it furnished! But here’s the snag: due to COVID, they couldn’t get into the country to sign the closing documents! Little did they know, we can even work around international border closures!
As it happens, there’s a park on the US/Canada border that is officially in Canada, but it’s US territory. Title was able to send a notary to the park, buyers drove 3 hours to get to the park, and they met at a picnic table and signed the documents across the table, which was across the border. Unusual times, call for unusual measures! Congrats, Ruth and Scott! Hopefully you both can enjoy the home in person soon.
