Keeping Your End Game in Sight

By Living Room Realty, March 27, 2020

Like so many first time buyers, Arianna and Matt wanted to find a home in a community that was close to amenities and walkable to cafes, stores, parks and more.  However, as first time buyers, their budget didn’t allow them the sort of flexibility they needed to achieve that dream. They had to pivot and look at how they could use the resources available to them to achieve their long term goal. Understanding their limitations, but keeping their end game in mind,  they decided to settle on a home that didn’t check all the boxes, but was one they could make work for the time being.

The home itself was a little rough around the edges, but with just 3% down and a limited budget, their options were few. They lived in their first home just over 3 years and during that time they poured their heart and soul into that house. They spent countless hours working on refinishing the hardwood floors, remodeling the bathroom, landscaping the front and backyard, and  so much more.

This past September we were able to sell that home for nearly 30 percent more than what they paid for it initially. All the sweat equity that they put into their home had paid off and allowed them to finally buy their dream home. While they had to make some initial concessions to get into home ownership, they never lost sight of their endgoals. Congrats to this sweet family and may they have many years of happy memory making in their beautiful home!
