Join Aryne + Dulcinea as they welcome the new art of Kendall Steele. Kendall is a long time Portland resident who teaches and makes art locally. Stop by and say hi! The show will be available until the end of September at our northeast Living Room Office at 1401 NE Alberta Street.
Kendall’s work documents her fascination with the colors, patterns, and textures found in nature and her love of stories, particularly myths, fairy tales, and other fantastical narratives that point our consciousness towards what is beyond the visible world.
Working in pastel allows her to be nimble. Ideas can be worked into an existing composition spontaneously. Details can be purposefully vague or carefully articulated. Color and texture are easily transformed. Ideally in the end, the finished piece has not been transcribed from an original idea, it has evolved.
