Lents Neighborhood

By Living Room Realty, October 24, 2019

Lents is one of Portland’s oldest neighborhoods, established in 1892 as the Town of Lent. Larger than most neighborhoods, it covers 3.75 square miles. It is also one of the city’s most diverse communities, with Asian, Russian/Eastern European, and Latino immigrants.

The Perfect Lents Day

Coffee + Pastries: Bella’s Italian Bakery is a woman-owned and operated bakery started in 2015 at the Lents International Farmers Market. Stop by for a delicious pastry or a savory Italian treat!

Get Away: Visit Leach Botanical Garden, a 16-acre lush green landscape located just east of Lents. Right off Foster Road, the garden has been a quiet escape from busy city roads since John and Lilla Leach purchased and began transforming the property in 1931. Bring your sketchbook, listen to the quiet creek.

Lunch: Come to El Pato Feliz Jr for the tacos, stay for the collection of rubber duckies, duck themed art, and friendly service. This family owned Lents establishment is a neighborhood favorite.

Dinner: Takahashi, winner of the Oregonian’s People’s Choice for Portland’s best sushi award in 2016, and has been in business for over 30 years. Takahashi offers an extensive menu featuring ramen, sushi, and more. There’s something for everyone!

Karaoke: If you’re karaoke-curious but a little shy, come out on a Friday-Monday night to sing to a small cohort of supportive Lentils. The Eagle Eye is proud of it’s dive-vibe, has a great staff, and is open to outside food (El Pato Feliz is a few steps away)

Take Me Out to the Ball Game: We can’t talk about Lents without mentioning the Pickles. Put aside a day next summer to meet Dillon the Pickle, mascot of Portland’s collegiate summer baseball team. Enjoy nightly specials, grab some swag, and raise the chairs!
