Rob & Karen are two of the kindest and toughest souls we have ever met. They are champions that have persevered through some of the hardest challenges Jason and I have imagined could happen to one couple. They have walked through the fires and have been refined. They have taught us what it looks like to stare adversity in the eye and smile with confidence knowing the match is already being won.
On top of life challenges, Rob & Karen experienced a major disaster in their previous home, a pipe burst in their kitchen and water poured throughout the main and lower floors for 6 days while they were both traveling. When they returned to Portland, they came home to chaos. Shortly after this disaster, Jason and I received an email asking them to meet and discuss their goals of selling their home once it was fully restored, and to brainstorm updates to make their home shine with the right look for today’s market.
Our meeting took place in the midst of their gutted kitchen and ruined floors to brainstorm design ideas for updating their home when it would hit the market. Jason and I were able to support Rob & Karen, with the help and guidance of their brilliant daughter, Rachael, to finalize design details after months and months of careful consideration.
Then the design details came to life, and months of hard work went into making their home ready for the market. It was amazing watching friends and family rally behind Rob and Karen to give their home one final push to sparkle. Finally we were live on the market!
Rob & Karen are wise and made careful decisions based upon their faith and thorough market data, helping them to respond to the changing market around them. After many crucial decisions and in close partnership with the couple, we found ourselves in contract and moving towards the sale of their home.
We loved celebrating each victory with Rob & Karen throughout their journey. Soon we found ourselves at the signing table. This was indeed a bittersweet moment for Rob & Karen. So many cherished memories in this beautiful home that they were now entrusting to a sweet family who would now make their own.
Now it was time to start the search for their new home sweet home with a whole lot of business trips in between. In a span of a couple months Rob and Karen had to undertake significant globe trotting, to then view available homes as soon as they landed back in Portland. A couple weeks before their final trip, Rob and Karen expressed that they really believed we were going to find their home before their trip. Two days after their return from SE Asia, a beautiful craftsman bungalow hit the market and Rob and Karen knew we had to pounce before it went away.
It was an intense fight to be the chosen ones among the multiple offers but Rob and Karen secured the home with it being on market for 1 day.
Today is closing day and the whole journey is sinking in. It feels surreal that this will now be a season of rest and peace for Rob and Karen and their beautiful pup Glory as they settle into their new community and their new home sweet home just in time for the holidays.
