Multnomah Village’s Very Own French Quarter

By Living Room Realty, February 20, 2019

If it’s been a while since you’ve had a day jaunt in Portland’s very own Multnomah Village, you will be pleasantly surprised as to how much the block cornering SW 35th Ave and Multnomah Blvd. has grown. The west side has been a bit slow to gain traction in P-Town’s food truck scene, but it is well worth the wait. I have watched the French Quarter evolve over the past few years, as my family often finds ourselves looking for somewhere quick and casual in the village while out on an evening walk. It started out with two food trucks, and now has a thriving indoor square that boasts unique boutiques with offerings such as indoor  plants, gourmet tea, artsy jewelry, homemade confections, handmade soap and an art gallery run by French Quarter’s owner and Multnomah’s own native Frenchman, Yves Le Meitour.

Start your morning at Silva Cafe with an organic coffee and scratch made baked goods. Pick up a fresh offering from the Parson’s Farms produce stand including seasonal fruit, veggies, flowers and Christmas trees during the holidays. Lunch and Dinner options include Noy Viet Lao that offers the best Pho in the city, Taco Express – the Sope’s are to die for, and newcomers Beirut Cafe featuring Halal meats and a menu full of delicious Lebanese fare, and last but not least Yoshi’s Sushi – the former sous chef from Bamboo Sushi’s super fresh and amazing venture. Indulge yourself with an adult beverage from the highly anticipated Bird in Hand, where you can get a carefully selected microbrew or un verre de vin.

The French Quarter is a wonderfully festive place to make an ordinary day extraordinary or celebrate Multnomah Village’s monthly First Friday where entertainment includes local bands with this upcoming event featuring live music by Accidental Folk and Rojo the Llama and his Alpaca buddy Napoleon
