NE PDX Homesteading

SOLD in NE PDX!

My super wonderful client, Michele, just closed on the purchase of her first home, a mid century ranch in NE Portland. This photo was taken at her signing, a culminating event we sadly, are no longer permitted to attend (many thanks to the escrow officer at Lawyer’s Title who snapped this for me).  In my long career I have yet to meet a buyer who is as resourceful and original as Michele! In an era where instant results are often valued over taking time with a process, she is what would best be described as a committed homesteader.  Michele came to me by way of her landlords, wonderful long term clients I helped acquire a N PDX fourplex in 2006 (shout out to Kit & Rick!), proving once again that lovely people refer other great humans! A lifelong renter, Michele carefully saved and planned for this moment and was undaunted by our current challenging market for buyers. In late June we dove in and in fairly short order, found “the one.”

Michele grows her own food and makes all manner of things (cheese, soap) and her plans for her property are both ambitious AND doable.  A “walipini” is planned, a semi dug in greenhouse with glass doors/windows set an angle that catches the sun. Fruit trees will be planted. A fair weather gardener myself, her commitment to the year round cycle of growing amazes.  All this while working full time and simultaneously nurturing her photography skills, thus embracing her true Renaissance self by developing skills in multiple areas of knowledge.

I am so delighted to have helped Michele find her modest piece of earth to call home. I’m looking forward to making visits to witness (and learn from) her creativity in action. Go to it, Michele!
