Tucked away in St. Johns, a cozy pocket of North Portland, is a quaint little house-turned-beer bar where everyone knows your name, and also your dog’s, and your baby’s. Brian Koch opened Lombard House in September 2016, after years working at some of Portland’s best beer establishments. The bar owes its charm to Koch’s commitment to quality and customers. On any given day you’ll find neighborhood regulars sitting at the bar, often watching an afternoon movie, sipping mostly local brews from one of 10 taps. Koch discovered the 100 year old building walking home from the St. Johns parade a few years ago. Now, the pub is a welcome fixture on the parade route. Lombard House also offers military and active duty discounts fo service members and their spouses, and of course has its own little league team, the Lombard House Phillies. While locals love it, Lombard House is worth the trek no matter what neighborhood you call home.
