Neighborhood Spotlight: Red, White and Blue Thrift Store

By Living Room Realty, July 24, 2019

So I’m very hesitant to divulge this, but this secret is too good not to share. I found the best thrift store ever. In Gladstone. Because if you want some proper treasure hunting, the ‘burbs are where to make it happen. The Red, White and Blue Thrift Store  is filled to the brim with gems, from full-out vintage china sets(this stuff is great for a glamorous picnic, just sayin’), to brass planters, to proper old cast iron cookware(just give them a good sanitize and cure before using), to a whole host of other treasures. Over the years I have found gorgeous silk Vera scarves, adorable super-soft mens graphic tees, and one particularly awesome mid-century lamp that I recently saw in a local vintage shop for $175. I got it for $3. So, I win.

Here’s the trick for the most successful RWB thrifting experience: Bring cash. Check their boards to see what tag colors have special deals on them. Bring some hand sanitizer for after. It’s a proper old school thrift store, after all. Fluorescent lighting, wild organization, no curation. It’s just down the street from local gem The Sausage Kitchen, so fuel up ahead of time with a sandwich and pepperoni stick(seriously, theirs are obscenely good) and then hit the racks for some proper thrifting fun!
