Easily Weathering the Storm!
I met Rhey and Josh during the beginning days of the dreaded Portland Icepocalypse of 2021. Portland had 330,000 PDXer’s out of electricity, and it was Chicago cold. This made it hard to even traverse the city, but I needed to open a house! This lovely couple showed up to have a look around and I noticed they enjoyed a very special deep connection. We chatted a little, all the while, I thought it was adventurous for them to venture out during the storm.
The very next day we ended up meeting at a different house that I was holding open. And this coincidence was funny to both of us. Some things are all about timing with Rhey and Josh. I was ready to help and they called and asked to work through this home buying process with me and my team. I was honored.
Off to buy a house, or not?
My team and I were now working together with these two on their search for a home. There is no need to rush something as important as this, but if a house came up that they wanted we would worked together on ways to offer. Luckily, they both share professional backgrounds in urban planning and both work in affordable housing development. Soon thereafter, they found a house and we wrote a strong offer to purchase. The next day we were rejected.
Weathering the storm.
I’m grateful to know these two wonderful people that can, and do, smooth through a storm like it didn’t happen. Josh is a Project Manager that develops affordable housing for seniors, families, and people exiting homelessness. Josh knew we wrote a great offer, but he said next time we write an offer we won’t pull any punches. Well not that exactly, but nicer. Rhey is a Project Manager at Hacienda Community Development Corporation, where she builds affordable housing and community spaces for Portland’s Latino community. They have built houses and communities, and now it was time for them to get one of their own!
All the feels!
About a week later they wanted to see a cute spot, and we went to check it out. They just fell in love with this beautiful updated love nest! This house just felt right, and they wanted to write an offer. So we came in with a strong offer that protected them as buyers, and that simply couldn’t be refused by the sellers.
Basically these two work really well together. Josh and Rhey are the best! I am very happy for them, and now
they have a house of their own. I’m wishing them the very best love can offer!
