Portland’s urban love affair with Art

By Living Room Realty, May 24, 2019

Recently I had buyers purchase a home in a charming section of E Burnside. The house is delightful, as are the new owners. One of the things that caught my attention in this particular home was the street mandala just out front. I love the fact that in the mornings, as my clients sit on their new front porch with a cup of coffee – rain or shine – they will have a sweet piece of community art to brighten their day.

I have always observed these “street mandalas” or “intersection art” but had never really given them much thought. They are all around Portland. I started to consider how they happened. I looked into it further and am delighted to have discovered that many of these are part of a community program, They City Repair Project – https://cityrepair.org/street-painting-examples

So grateful to live in a city that values making art enjoyable for all.
