RUSSIAN TEA AT THE HEATHMAN HOTEL

By Living Room Realty, May 1, 2018

Treat yourself to tea!

Here’s how Headwaters describes their Russian Tea Experience…

“Tea is a Russian cure-all—illness, hangover, heartbreak— you name it. But at its core and with help of its star attraction, The Magnificent Samovar, the ritual of tea drinking is a symbol of Russian hospitality at its best. At Headwaters, we are proud to continue the Heathman’s long tradition of serving tea. Joining forces with Smith Teamaker, our featured teas are a compendium of custom blends and their greatest hits. Our menu is a collaboration between Vitaley Paley and Pastry Chef Megan Jeans. Together the chefs pay homage to the rich history of the Heathman while adding a Russian flare that speaks to Vitaley’s own heritage with dishes passed down from his grandmother.”

Tables are topped with a feast spread onto three tiers of sweet and savory delights. Look out for the Buterbrodi (open face rye bread sandwiches with various toppings), Stuffed Eggs, and Khachapouri (georgian cheese bread and local honey). There is also an abundance of perogis, smoked fish, and more, so come hungry!

For sweets, you’ll find Bird’s Milk Cake: shortbread cookie, marshmallow, with chocolate glaze. It’s sort of like an easier-to-eat and more delicious s’more! The kitchen also makes different fruit gelées, know as Kulaga Berlorusskaya. The Tort po kievski (Kiev torte) was also delicious, and consisted of hazelnut meringue coffee buttercream with chocolate ganache.

Call at least 48 hours in advance for the Russian Tea service – it’s pretty popular, and the seatings fill up fast!
