Spring is the season of renewal, growth and change. These changes surround us, in nature and in our lives. When my dear friend called and asked if I would help her mom sell their family home I knew it would be more than just a transaction, it would be the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another. My lovely seller and her husband purchased their home more than 40 years ago! They were new to Portland and thought this would be a starter home while they got to know the city and decided where they ‘really’ wanted to live. They didn’t know they had already found where they ‘really’ wanted to live. The home and their neighborhood grew in sync with their young family.
A few years ago this loving family suddenly lost their husband and father. His passing changed everything. His caring wife had long settled into the comfortable routine of theirs lives and hadn’t imagined her golden years without him. Now there were new plans to make.
Earlier this year the opportunity to build a new house in Central Oregon seemed like the natural transition for this recent widow. A new home in a beautiful setting, surrounded by nature is the ideal place to heal and grow. The future is bright but first, she needed to sell the family home.
As fate would have it, before we even got the property on the market the perfect buyers came along. Also facing a transitional time they were looking for a place full of light, with lush gardens and room to grow their family. They knew this was their home as soon as they walked through the door, just like their predecessors. The tradition of love and family will continue in this home.
